Japan: Emaki

Another wonderful card I dot from my Japanese pen-pal. I'm really happy that I have it in my collection.
It shows a part of the Obusuma Saburo emaki - a narrative picture scroll of story about the warrior Osubuma Saburo and his brother. The story is from the 13th century, Kamakura period in Japanese history.

The ladies on this part of the scroll are wearing kimono with an incredible amount of layers.
